  • Embrace natural selection: Let the weak fish die in the hatchery before they ever touch a public stream. If a strain cannot survive harsh handling or variable feed schedules in a controlled environment, it has zero business facing a flash flood in the Rockies.

The greenback cutthroat trout is an iconic symbol of the American West. It deserves better than a revolving door of expensive, doomed stocking events designed to generate corporate sponsorships and agency press releases.

Stop celebrating the headcounts. Start demanding survival.
